Global sources.

A point of access to health authorities, alert systems, surveillance atlases, biosafety reference points and scientific tools. Search by organization, country or subject, then filter by area and language. The structure, availability and content controls have separate boundaries, detailed in the methodology.

Filterable directory

Search by country, organization or subject. Filters combine and also work without JavaScript. WHO statistical profiles and national pages are classified by territory; their roles remain distinct.

Research ignores accents and combines words. It covers name, country, type of organization, description, languages and themes. Understand the database and its limits.

The six official languages of WHO

For the same source, the depth of content may vary according to language. The following pages provide access to the official editions of WHO; the directory also covers the national languages proposed by local agencies.

03Country profiles

Choose between the two WHO accesses of a country

For many countries, the directory offers a statistical profile on WHO Data and an institutional page on the WHO website. These two entries meet different needs; they do not replace the instructions of the national health authority.

Data profile

To compare indicators, identify the year of each series, its definition and its limits. The indicators on the same page do not necessarily cover the same period.

WHO Country Page

National authority

For current recommendations, alerts and applicable procedures, give priority to the competent public source of the territory concerned.

04Use the directory well

A useful source is not always the competent source

Global information gives context; a national authority specifies the applicable guidelines; a local agency knows the situation on the ground. For an alert, start from the nearest source to the location, then compare it with the regional and global watch.

To understand

Check out the disease sheets, manuals and summaries. They explain the stable notions but do not necessarily describe an ongoing situation.

To monitor

Use dated bulletins, dashboards and streams. Look at the data period, the case definition and possible delays in notification.

To act

Follow the competent authority of your territory or sector. An international recommendation does not replace a local regulatory directive.

Four frequent searches

A test or result

Start with the method, agent and time of sampling. A laboratory sheet and a clinical recommendation do not have the same function.

A recalled food product

The reference and the lot are included in the national reminder form. European systems help to track notifications between countries.

Check a reminder →

Monitoring data

Look at the territory, period, population covered, denominator, and time frame for consolidation before comparing.

An Environmental Exposure

A signal in water, air or soil calls for verification of the method and uses of the environment; local delivery remains a priority.

Understand a signal →

Selection criteria

The directory focuses on public authorities, intergovernmental organizations, national institutes, monitoring networks and scientific libraries. Some academic tools are included when they provide additional monitoring; their form explicitly identifies them and their signals must be confirmed by an authority. Resources are retained for their documentary usefulness, not as a ranking or as a general approval of all their content.

  • Traceability: identifiable body and scope.
  • Utility: accessible alerts, data, reference materials or educational resources.
  • Complementarity: human, animal, plant, environmental and occupational health.
  • Linguistic Diversity: interface or significant content in the languages indicated.

Control of resources

Identity

Current name, responsible agency and perimeter were compared to institutional pages, notably for the Australian CDC, Japanese JIHS, HERA and European laboratories.

Access

An HTTP control follows the redirects. A robot blockage, network error, or an exceeded delay remains an indeterminate result; it is not presented as a deleted link or as a validation of content.

News

Developments 2025–26 have been integrated, including the amended IHR, the WHO Pandemic Agreement, PABS negotiation, BMBL and environmental monitoring.

Documentary directoryLinks, languages and perimeters may change. BIOHAZARD PROTECTION is not affiliated with any listed organization and does not replace health authorities, a qualified professional or emergency services.

FAQUse

Frequently asked questions about the directory

Which source to consult for an ongoing alert?

Start with the national or local authority of the territory concerned and then use regional and international organizations to put the event in context. Always check the date, area covered and status of the publication.

What does the language on a resource mean?

The language corresponds to an interface or significant content offered by the external resource. It does not mean that each page, report or dataset is available in that language.

Is inclusion in the directory worth recommending?

No. Inclusion indicates a documentary utility and an identifiable perimeter. It does not constitute a classification, affiliation or general approval of all content published by the organization.

Are links controlled in real time?

No. The links are subject to editorial verifications dated. An external resource may change address, name or perimeter between two controls; check the methodology and report any useful corrections.

Why do some countries have two WHO fact sheets?

The WHO data profile brings together statistical indicators with their reference years. Instead, the WHO country page presents the organization's office, programmes and news for the country. For a current health statement, consult the competent national or local authority.

In practiceObserve and understand

Two WHO entry points, two uses

A health event and a national indicator require different sources. Disease Outbreak News bulletins describe confirmed or potential acute events; WHO Data profiles collect indicators by country.

Keep in mind

An event’s absence from this bulletin selection does not establish the absence of risk. For a local measure applicable today, consult the relevant territorial authority.
